Largeau III
The Largeau Basin, located in central Chad, is a sedimentary basin with significant petroleum potential. It is part of the Central African Rift System and is characterized by a complex geological history tied to rifting and subsidence during the Mesozoic and Cenozoic eras. The basin is primarily composed of continental and lacustrine sedimentary sequences, which are favorable for hydrocarbon generation and accumulation.
CGIP had the Largeau III block in the basin, with over 11810 square kilometers of future exploration potential. In 2023 the company chose to revert the block back to the government of Chad due to low identified perspectivity.
