CGIP's History in Chad

CGIP's wholly owned subsidiary UHCL has been investing in Chad continuously since signing a PSC with the Chad government in 2012. The Company has four blocks in Chad - Block H, DOC/DOD and the Largeau III block.
The companies head office is located in the capital of N'Djamena. The company also has two operating bases located in Belanga in DOC/DOD and in Block H.
Block H, in particular, has seen a long history of investment. Early exploration by Conoco and Esso in the area in the 70's and 80's predated the export pipeline but saw a number of discovery wells being drilled. Esso returned the block to the government upon discovering the massive Kome field in Doba.
In 2012 United Hydrocarbons signed a PSC for the Block H and Doba DOC/DOD fields, later adding the Largeau III block to the same PSC. Early success came with discoveries of the Belanga and Lara fields. in the DOC/DOD blocks.
In 2017, UHCL was sold to Delonex Energy, who drilled 6 exploration wells in Block H between 2017 and 2019. Delonex had four major discoveries in the Kanem, Haraze, Ghazal and Tamarisk wells. The company was preparing to drill deeper exploration wells when the pandemic hit and operations were suspended.
In 2022, CGIP acquired Delonex and began the process to renew the PSC. In October 2024 a new management team was hired to reactivate the operations in Chad. From Mar-Jun 2025 the company has now restarted operations in Doba, successfully refurbishing the living camp and reactivating a number of the production wells.
In total over 550 MM USD has been spent on exploration and development in these blocks.
- Conoco and Esso spent over $150 MM from 1974-2008
- UHCL invested $270 MK
- Delonex Invested $130 MM
30 wells have been drilled on the blocks to date, with 18 discoveries being realized.
