Route to Market

In 2003, the 1070 km TOTCO pipeline was completed linking the Doba oil fields in Chad to the world via Cameroon. The pipeline is jointly owned by the governments of Chad and Cameroon in consortium with the state oil company of Chad (Societé des Hydrocarbures du Tchad) and a handful of private operators. Since its

inauguration the pipeline has been somewhat unique in Sub-Saharan Africa as it has faced no significant operational interruptions of any kind. The pipeline  has a capacity to flow 225,000 bopd but Chad's current production is only 130,000 bopd.

Over 90% of Chad's oil production is deliver to an FPSO which is located off the coast of Cameroon.  This vessel can store 2 million barrels and is the location where all of Chad's oil is exported from.
